How James Bond started my writing passion

Casino Royale hit theaters when I was in 8th grade. Being the extremely independent middle school child that I was, my friend's mother drove us to see the movie at the midnight release. It was the first blond Bond and I was intrigued, to say the least. But, as an avid Bondathon watcher every Thanksgiving, I felt obligated to hit the midnight showing.

And then I felt obligated to read the James Bond books, starting all the way back with Casino Royale, published in 1953. Suddenly I was hooked, checking out book after book from the local library. The original Ian Fleming novels, the newer ones by Eric Van Lustbader and John Gardner and Raymond Benson. Later the Young Bond series.

When I was attached to those novels, I suddenly felt the need to want to continue them. And thus began my passion for writing. My eighth grade self was going to be the next Ian Fleming. So my Bond started his journey to defeat another enemy of the state of Britain after an attack inside MI6.

I finished approximately eleven chapters and truly thought I was going to be the one to continue the Bond legacy and name.

Until I realized I didn't know the difference between "your" and "you're." Yes. I was one of those people. Thankfully that ignorance was short lived.
